Same day crowns are an advanced dental technology that is utilized for the restoration of decayed, split, or chipped teeth. This technology can create complete crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers. The same day crown machine crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

Same day crown restorations are made of compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are more durable than lab restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most useful feature of receiving a same day crown restoration is that it is achieved in one appointment. In addition to the advantage of a one appointment restoration, there is no unpleasant impression material to bite on or a short-term crown to wear.

The procedure for placement of a same day crown restoration is extremely easy. The primary step is to get rid of all degeneration from the tooth. The dentist will then shape the tooth in preparation to take a digital photo. The tooth is then sprayed with a extremely fine powder. This allows the digital camera to take an acceptable image. As soon as this image is captured, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will enable the dental practitioner to design the restoration right in front of you.

When the design is finished, the same day crown device will mill the restoration. This step takes approximately 15 minutes. You can actually watch this procedure if you would like. When the restoration is completed milling, the dentist will position the restoration on your tooth.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Gum Disease (Periodontal Disease)

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. Due to the fact that gum disease is usually painless, you might not know you have it. Also called periodontal disease, gum disease is caused by plaque, the sticky film of germs that is constantly forming on our teeth.

Here are few warning signs that may indicate a problem:

  • gums that bleed easily.

  • red, swollen, sore gums.

  • gums that have actually retreated from the teeth.

  • consistent foul breath or bad taste.

  • permanent teeth that are separating or loose.

  • any change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite.

  • any change in the fit of partial dentures.

There are numerous factors that enhance the risk of establishing gum disease including smoking cigarettes, pregnancy, and diabetes. It is important to go to your dentist if you think you have gum disease because the earlier you treat it the better.

The early stage of periodontal disease is called gingivitis. If you have gingivitis, your gums might become red, inflamed and bleed quickly. At this phase, the disease is still reversible and can typically be removed by a professional cleaning at your dental office, followed by everyday flossing and brushing.

Advanced periodontal disease is called periodontitis. Chronic periodontitis can result in the loss of bone and tissue that support the teeth and it may become more extreme in time. If it does, your teeth will feel loose and start moving around in your mouth. It normally gets worse slowly, however there can be periods of rapid progression.

Aggressive periodontitis is a highly destructive form of gum disease that takes place in patients who are otherwise healthy. Common features consist of rapid loss of bone and tissue and may occur in some areas of the mouth, or in the entire mouth.

Research in between systemic diseases and gum diseases is ongoing. While a link is not conclusive, some research studies indicate that extreme gum disease might be associated with a number of other health conditions such as stroke or diabetes.

Regular dental checkups and periodontal examinations are very important. The treatment methods that most dental professionals diagnose will rely on the type of disease and how far the condition has advanced. Excellent dental care at home is necessary to help keep gum disease from becoming more severe or recurring.
