Exactly What Are The Advantages Of Same Day Crowns?

There are a number of benefits to having treatment with same day crowns over traditional, laboratory-made restorations.

  • Everything is carried out in a single appointment, you just have to visit the dentist one time, take one day from your work to have the procedure, instead of the typical two or three visits.

  • Only one anesthetic injections, because the entire procedure can be carried out within an hour you only need to have one injection.

  • Your dentist is in complete control of the final outcome, given that the crown or inlay are designed and made from start to finish by your dental practitioner, they have overall control over how it will look and fit.

  • No short-term restorations, which can often fall off between visits if they are not looked after appropriately.

Today Were Discussing:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
