Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to many dental restorations, veneers might someday require replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last multiple years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
