What Are Single Visit Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new innovation that a dental professional can financially bring back damaged teeth in a single visit using a premium ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a special camera to take an precise photo of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD technology to develop the restoration. Then CAM takes over and instantly produces the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Innovation Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the traditional 2nd visit has been eliminated. This brand-new technology has more than a decade of medical research and documents to support it. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and effective.

Today We Will Be Talking About:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of a lot of patients, there are multiple methods to lighten teeth. The most popular technique is utilizing a home tooth whitening system that will lighten teeth considerably. Since tooth lightening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the newly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use numerous methods: customizeded tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office bleaching.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory fabricates into customized vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole procedure takes about a week of everyday use. 3 different strengths of gel may be used, however, the higher the strength, the higher the possibility of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is suggested for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take a number of months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a extremely fast and hassle-free bleaching procedure. The visit is roughly one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our patients love this treatment due to the fact that it is so simple and fast!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays ought to be used every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
