Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique generally involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
