There are various types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.
The whole mouth is examined and a decision is made about which teeth will need to be removed, and which will remain. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending upon the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal performance and appearance return and one simply continues as usual. Often implants can be utilized to further support the dentures.
It is necessary to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when as compared to natural teeth. Dentures impact the kind of food you have the ability to eat, your confidence in social scenarios, and even your self-esteem.
A Couple Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the same arch
- Restore chewing capability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other treatments
An upper full denture will usually feel better than a lower complete denture. In order to significantly improve the fit of a lower complete denture, we often recommend utilizing dental implants as a retentive mechanism. 2 dental implants placed in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and substantially improve comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be placed in the jaw after a denture has been in use for multiple years.
