Today's Conversation Has To Do With:

Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)

Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Similar to many dental restorations, veneers might at some point need replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last multiple years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.

How Are Veneers Applied?

Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct method usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is normally referred to as bonding.

The indirect method typically involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and beautiful veneers.
