Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to many dental restorations, veneers may at some point need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy normally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique normally involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
