At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may ask, exactly what are same day crowns and what can it provide for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one visit. We have actually now been using this innovation for many years and like it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that permits us to change damaged or missing tooth structures with a ceramic product that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you remain in the practice, in just one appointment. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that feel and look like natural teeth can be made and placed in a single visit, usually in about an hour.

So what is the treatment?

We scan the opposite teeth and the way the teeth bite together first. We remove the old filling, and decay and any thin weak tooth material and scan the readied tooth.

After this we quit working in the mouth and start working on the computer.

Everyone enjoys seeing the pictures of their teeth and the developing of their new tooth. We make 3D design and this information is sent to the milling device.

Everyone asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth is not developed layer by layer, it is cut back from a block in the machine, which is much more durable.

The block is then exactly carved to produce your brand-new restoration, which is great.

Finally, the customized crown restoration bonded flawlessly into the tooth, strengthening and sealing it at the same time and then we tidy up!

We have to ensure that you can bite correctly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

The Discussion For Today Is:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is essential when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and discover problems early). Often deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also trigger the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal therapy. As soon as this occurs, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it should be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even damage the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and might be extremely uncomfortable. Symptoms that the pulp has become infected may include sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, discomfort, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no symptoms appear and the individual is unaware of any issue up until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and decontaminate the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. As soon as the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any additional infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is recommended for bring back a tooth that has actually had root canal therapy.
