Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still extremely long lasting and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method generally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
