Why Are They Called Same Day Crowns?

This advanced technology enables your dental practitioner to take accurate pictures of your tooth and use those images to design, manufacture, and put a porcelain or zirconia crown in a single appointment. Same day crowns offer exceptional convenience, value, and accuracy to our patients.

How Does The Same Day Crown Technology Work?

The same day crown process includes 3 fundamental steps. First, your dentist uses 3D imaging to take highly precise images of your tooth and the surrounding structures. Next, they then download these images into a computer and, using computer-assisted design software, develops your custom-fitted crown. Third, your dental practitioner will send the design to their in-office accuracy milling machine which creates the crown from a block of dental porcelain or zirconia. Once they stain and glaze the crown for added strength and esthetics, your dental practitioner will put it on your tooth.

What Are The Benefits Of Same Day Crowns?

We only use dental porcelain and zirconia to produce our same day crowns. These metal-free restorations provide incomparable strength, durability, chip and stain resistance, and natural charm.

Precision-fitted same day crowns need less tooth prep work and preserve more of your tooth structure.

Traditional crowns require two office visits. With same day crowns, you can come to our dentist's office for a visit and leave with a perfectly restored tooth.

You can avoid the inconvenience and possible threats associated with uncomfortable short-term crowns.

Today's Topic Is:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a filling due to the fact that new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can cause tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are 2 types of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists offer both kinds of fillings, however find that a number of their clients prefer the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings supply great toughness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to hold up against moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this may lead to a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, often allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry during the whole filling process and they are subject to stain and staining over time. The life span of a white filling can depend greatly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also commonly utilized to repair front teeth that have actually broken or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is normally much more economical than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
