At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may be asking, exactly what are same day crowns and exactly what can it provide for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one appointment. We have actually now been using this technology for multiple years and love it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that enables us to fix damaged or missing tooth structures with a ceramic product that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you are in the practice, in simply one visit. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that feel and look like natural teeth can be made and fitted in a single appointment, typically in about an hour.

So what is the procedure?

We scan the opposite teeth and the method the teeth bite together first. We remove the old filling, and decay and any thin weak tooth product and scan the readied tooth.

After this we quit working in the mouth and start working with the computer.

Everybody enjoys seeing the pictures of their teeth and the designing of their new tooth. We make 3D design and this information is sent out to the milling device.

Everyone asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth is not built up layer by layer, it is cut from a block in the machine, which is much more durable.

The block is then precisely carved to produce your new restoration, which is great.

Finally, the customized crown restoration bonded perfectly into the tooth, strengthening and sealing it at the same time and then we tidy up!

We have to make certain that you can bite properly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital images of areas needing restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. The Topic Of The Day Will Be:

Gum Disease (Periodontal Disease)

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. Because gum disease is normally pain-free, you may not know you have it. Also called periodontal disease, gum disease is caused by plaque, the sticky film of germs that is continuously forming on our teeth.

Some warning signs that may indicate a problem:

  • gums that bleed easily.

  • red, inflamed, sore gums.

  • gums that have actually retreated from the teeth.

  • persistent foul breath or bad taste.

  • permanent teeth that are separating or loose.

  • any change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite.

  • any difference in the fit of partial dentures.

There are numerous aspects that increase the risk of establishing gum disease including smoking cigarettes, pregnancy, and diabetes. It is necessary to go to your dentist if you presume you have gum disease because the quicker you treat it the better.

The early stage of periodontal disease is called gingivitis. If you have gingivitis, your gums might become red, inflamed and bleed easily. At this stage, the disease is still fixable and can normally be removed by a professional cleaning at your dental office, followed by daily flossing and brushing.

Advanced periodontal disease is called periodontitis. Chronic periodontitis can lead to the loss of bone and tissue that support the teeth and it might become more serious over time. If it does, your teeth will feel loose and begin moving around in your mouth. It typically becomes worse slowly, but there can be periods of fast progression.

Aggressive periodontitis is a highly damaging kind of gum disease that occurs in patients who are otherwise healthy. Typical features include rapid loss of bone and tissue and might occur in some areas of the mouth, or in the entire mouth.

Research in between systemic diseases and periodontal diseases is ongoing. While a link is not conclusive, some studies show that serious gum disease may be connected with multiple other health conditions such as stroke or diabetes.

Regular dental checkups and gum examinations are essential. The treatment methods that most dentists diagnose will rely on the type of disease and how far the condition has progressed. Good dental care at home is important to help keep periodontal disease from becoming more serious or recurring.
