Today's Subject Will Be:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the top aesthetic concern of most clients, there are numerous methods to bleach teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth lightening system that will lighten teeth considerably. Because tooth lightening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize multiple methods: customizeded tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory produces into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole procedure takes about a week of day-to-day use. 3 different strengths of gel might be utilized, however, the greater the strength, the greater the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray approach is recommended for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take numerous months of use to see significant color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very fast and hassle-free whitening process. The visit is around one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients enjoy this treatment because it is so simple and fast!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays should be utilized every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
