Two Reasons To Speak To Your Dental Expert Regarding Same Day Crowns

Same day crowns are a great option that makes getting a crown much more convenient and less time-consuming. These crowns operate in much the same method as traditional crowns, other than that same-day crowns are made in the dental practitioner's office while you are waiting, rather than being ordered from a dental laboratory like standard crowns.

Here are 2 reasons to talk to your dentist about the possibility of getting a same day crown:

A lot more Convenient

Convenience is going to be the most significant factor that lot of individuals decide to opt for a same-day crown.

In the past, getting a crown would mean that you would need to pay numerous visits to your dentist before the crown was in position, with one appointment devoted to preparing your tooth and another appointment to place the permanent crown over your tooth.

While that might not seem like it is too time-consuming, it can typically be challenging to require time off from your job or family numerous times in the length of a week or more in order to see your dental practitioner during regular business hours.

Because the same-day crown is manufactured in-house by your dental practitioner, you will have the final crown fitted over the tooth before you leave from your one required crown appointment.

This is helpful because you will not have to stress over irritating your employer, having your colleagues cover for you, or losing out on pay since you needed to leave in the middle of the work day multiple times to go to the dentist.

A Lot More Comfortable

Another reason to ask your dentist for a same-day crown is comfort. Same day crowns are more comfortable because you won't have to invest a week or more having a temporary crown while awaiting your long-term crown.

A temporary crown can typically be a source of quite a bit of inflammation and discomfort because it can frequently become loose quickly.

When a short-term crown is loose, it can allow liquids to get under it and touch nerves in the exposed roots of your tooth. The loose fit can also trigger the temporary crown to shift along your gum and cause the skin to end up being scratched and inflamed.

While you generally do not need to have a short-term crown for long, a same-day crown can enable you to avoid any concerns associated with the short-term crown completely.

This kind of crown is going to be both a lot more comfy and much more convenient to obtain than a traditional crown.

Today's Discussion Will Be About:

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If neglected and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a terribly damaged joint.
