What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new technology that a dental practitioner can economically bring back damaged teeth in a single visit using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a special camera to take an accurate photo of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and instantly produces the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Innovation Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer have to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the standard 2nd visit has actually been eliminated. This new technology has more than 10 years of scientific research and documentation to support it. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and efficient.

Today We Will Be Talking About:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of many clients, there are multiple methods to lighten teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth lightening system that will whiten teeth significantly. Since tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize multiple approaches: customizeded tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory makes into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire procedure takes about a week of daily use. 3 different strengths of gel might be utilized, however, the greater the strength, the higher the possibility of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is recommended for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take a number of months of use to see significant color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a really quick and convenient bleaching procedure. The visit is around one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our patients love this treatment because it is so easy and quick!

Tooth bleaching is not permanent. A touch-up might be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays ought to be used every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
