Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with most dental restorations, veneers may at some point require replacement; however, they are still extremely durable and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
