Today's Topic Will Be About:

Dental Dentures

There are various types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.

The whole mouth is examined and a determination is made as to which teeth will have to be removed, and which will remain. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal functionality and appearance return and one just continues as usual. Typically implants can be used to further support the dentures.

It is essential to note that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures impact the type of food you are able to eat, your self-esteem in social scenarios, and even your self-confidence.

Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:

  • All Teeth missing in the same arch

  • Restore chewing capability

  • Restore a natural looking smile

  • Economical alternative to other procedures

An upper full denture will usually feel better than a lower complete denture. In order to significantly improve the fit of a lower complete denture, we often suggest using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. 2 dental implants placed in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and significantly improve comfort. Sometimes, the implants can even be put in the jaw after a denture has been in use for multiple years.
