Same Day Crowns

Same day crown technology plays a vital role in our practice. This remarkable development in chair side dentistry offers us the tools to design, produce, and place crowns, inlays and onlays in a single appointment.

The Same Day Crown Difference

The traditional method to a crown or inlay and onlay typically needed a return appointment after the client waited (with a short-term restoration in the tooth) for about two weeks while the restoration was manufactured in a different lab. Same day crown CAD/CAM innovation eliminates the wait!

How Do Same Day Crowns Work?

Same day crowns utilize a special camera to take an precise image of the broken tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD (computer-aided design) software to design the restoration.

Then CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) takes over and automatically mills the restoration while the client waits. At last, the brand-new restoration is bonded in place.

The entire procedure takes about one hour, and there are no irritating temporaries or 2nd visit required!

Proven Technology

With two decades of clinical research and more than 20 million restorations performed worldwide, same day crowns have shown to be a an effective, safe and hassle-free innovation that we are delighted to provide to our clients.

The Conversation Of The Day Is:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling due to the fact that brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can cause tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists provide both kinds of fillings, however find that a number of their patients choose the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings offer excellent durability and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to stand up to moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this may lead to a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, frequently enabling a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the whole filling procedure and they undergo stain and discoloration in time. The life span of a white filling can depend significantly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also commonly used to fix front teeth that have actually broken or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is usually much cheaper than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
