Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to a lot of dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method normally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
