What Are Single Day Dental Crowns?

It is a innovation for restoring damaged teeth, and this restoration can be finished in a single visit to our office. It makes your teeth tougher and more stunning - all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free and the state-of-the-art ceramic material and is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

Throughout your visit, you and your dental practitioner will go over the details of the treatment and your dentist will address any questions you might have relating to the treatment or porcelain crowns in general.

Your dental practitioner will then use a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special 3D imaging camera to take a picture of your tooth. Using the brand-new exclusive software, your restoration will be developed according to your tooth's proper shape and function.

Then, it will use a diamond burs to develop your restoration out of a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using cutting edge adhesive dentistry.

Today's Conversation Is About:

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and strengthens the tooth structure giving the tooth a longer life span than it would have if recovered by fillings or other types of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is likely to break, or is too broken down to be recovered with a filling. They are most frequently done after root canal treatments, or when a large filling breaks. The larger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be needed. Even after a filling is put in a huge cavity, a tooth is more likely to break. Remember that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the body. Teeth go through incredible pressures. Crowns sit over the weakened tooth, providing strength and protecting the tooth against damage. A broken or cracked tooth is a much more severe matter and far more difficult to treat. Crowns prevent this, in addition to producing a nice smile.

It takes 2 visits to recover a tooth with a crown. In the first appointment any decay is eliminated from the tooth and it is formed to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in fabricating a crown. Between the two visits the crown is made, typically of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic product, or gold. A temporary crown is worn during this time. In the second visit this temporary crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed and after that cemented in place.

Exactly What Does Getting A Crown Include?

A crown procedure generally requires 2 visits. Your first appointment will include taking impressions that will be utilized to produce your customized crown. A mold will also be used to develop a short-term crown which will stay on your tooth for approximately 2 weeks up until your new crown is made by a dental laboratory.

While the tooth is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by eliminating any decay and shaping the surface area to correctly fit the crown. When these details are accomplished, your short-term crown will be put with temporary cement and your bite will be examined to ensure you are biting appropriately.

At your 2nd visit your short-term crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown will be thoroughly placed to ensure the spacing and bite are accurate.

You will be given care directions and encouraged to have routine dental visits to inspect your crown. As always, correct oral hygiene will help extend the life of your brand-new crown.
