If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing discomfort when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or want to remove unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a great alternative for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface of the affected tooth, adding resilience and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are an option that we offer on a case by case basis to patients who would gain from the procedure. They enable clients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This removes the need to have a short-term crown placed and then another appointment arranged for the positioning of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new innovation that scans the mouth to obtain the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are very strong and durable and constructed out of the highest quality porcelain available. Sometimes, a gold crown might be recommended for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may differ between the two and you might wish to discuss your budget too with the your dental practitioner. Your dentist will go over with you the kinds of crowns available and offer you a suggestion based on your particular situation.

Call us to arrange a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today We Will Be Talking About:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a filling due to the fact that new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can result in tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are 2 kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists provide both types of fillings, but find that a lot of their patients prefer the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings supply good sturdiness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to withstand moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this might lead to a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, frequently enabling a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the entire filling procedure and they go through stain and staining with time. The life span of a white filling can depend significantly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also commonly used to repair front teeth that have actually broken or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is typically much more economical than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
