At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may be asking, exactly what are same day crowns and what can it provide for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one appointment. We have actually now been using this innovation for multiple years and love it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that allows us to change damaged or missing tooth structures with a ceramic product that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you are in the practice, in simply one appointment. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look like natural teeth can be made and fitted in a single appointment, typically in about an hour.

So what is the procedure?

We scan the opposite teeth and the method the teeth bite together first. We remove the old filling, and degeneration and any thin weak tooth product and scan the prepared tooth.

After this we quit working in the mouth and start working with the computer.

Everyone likes seeing the pictures of their teeth and the designing of their brand-new tooth. We make 3D design and this info is sent to the milling system.

Everybody asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth isn't developed layer by layer, it is cut back from a block in the device, which is much stronger.

The block is then precisely sculpted to produce your brand-new restoration, which is great.

Finally, the customized crown restoration bonded effortlessly into the tooth, strengthening and sealing it at the same time then we clean up!

We have to make sure that you can bite correctly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Crown Restorations

Today Were Talking About:

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If untreated and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to repair a terribly damaged joint.
