Single Day Crowns And Teeth Restorations

Do you need to get a dental crown? Or will you quickly be requiring a dental treatment that will cause you to need a dental crown? If so, you may be starting to dread the time you will have to spend at the dental practitioner's office. At our dental practice, we offer a fantastic time-saving solution for you. We offer same day crowns at our practice!

At our practice we are proud to have professional and highly-trained dentists on staff. At our dental practice we integrate state-of-the-art technology and procedures to supply our patients with the very best restorative, preventive, implant, and cosmetic dentistry care. For patients who have to get dental crowns, we are very pleased to be able to offer same day crowns.

Crowns and caps are two different names for the same thing. A dental crown is a restoration that is usually made from porcelain. It is a strong structure that is used to cover a tooth on all four sides to help strengthen the tooth and enhance its function.

Crowns can also be used to connect bridges, as the top part of a dental implant, or to prevent a damaged tooth from becoming weaker. Crowns can also be used to strengthen a tooth after a root canal procedure.

Crowns are also used for purely aesthetic reasons, such as to cover a significantly tarnished tooth that has to be brought back to its original, appealing appearance.

Generally getting a dental crown is a prolonged treatment. The dentist will need to take impressions, offer you with a temporary crown, await the crown to be returned from a laboratory, and then have you come back to the office so that it can be permanently connected. Today at our practice patients can get same day crowns in about 2 hours.

Our same day crowns are created in our office thanks to our CAD-CAM technology.

CAD-CAM stands for "computer-aided-design-computer-aided-manufacture." Computers are used to take pictures which are then computer-analyzed and used to develop a crown.

This crown is really milled by a computer in our office. The crown will fit your mouth exactly and get rid of any need to send out impressions or images to an outside lab.

All this is done while you wait, eliminating the need to return for a second visit.

You also will not need to get a crown, since our permanent crown will be immediately available to you.

If you wish to consult with our dentist for more information about same day crowns or to obtain a same day crown, contact our practice.

The Conversation For Today Is:

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a badly damaged joint.
