Don't have time for the typical 2 dental visit crown?

Technology today is altering our everyday lives. Lots of people, however, aren't aware that technology also is affecting dentistry in brand-new and interesting ways.

Advanced innovations in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, triggering less discomfort and producing satisfying outcomes.

One development instrument, called same day crowns, allow dentists to quickly fix damaged teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, conserving patients time and inconvenience.

Exactly what are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dentist can economically restore damaged teeth in a single visit using a premium ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, including a camera, computer, and milling machine in one instrument.

The dentist uses a unique camera to take a precise picture of the broken tooth. This optical impression is moved and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD technology to create the restoration. The CAM takes over and automatically develops the restoration while the client waits.

At lastly, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes about 2 hours.

Exactly what does this development mean for a patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings tarnishing smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dental practitioners don't have to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the standard second visit has actually been removed.

Same day crowns have twenty years of clinical research and paperwork to support the innovation. The restorations have been shown accurate, safe and reliable.

Today's Conversation Will Be About:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the top aesthetic concern of many clients, there are multiple ways to lighten teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system that will whiten teeth significantly. Since tooth lightening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the newly bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize numerous approaches: customizeded tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray method involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory produces into customized vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire procedure takes about a week of day-to-day use. 3 various strengths of gel may be used, however, the higher the strength, the higher the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray approach is recommended for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take a number of months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very quick and practical lightening process. The visit is approximately one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients enjoy this treatment because it is so simple and fast!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays need to be utilized every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
