Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with many dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last multiple years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method usually involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
