Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like many dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last multiple years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method usually involves two appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
