What's So Great About Same Day Crowns?

In a typical dental practice, receiving dental crowns is a long and often an unpleasant process that can take numerous weeks to finish. However, our practice uses same day crown innovation, which allows us to scan, design, and mill stunning tooth-colored crowns in one day.

Imagine entering our dental office to receive a crown and leaving the same day with a strong, durable, and aesthetically pleasing crown already in place. Call us today to find out more!

The Single Visit Crown Process

Throughout your appointment, you and your dental practitioner will go over the information of the procedure and your dentist will address any concerns you might have. Your dentist will then apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special 3D imaging camera to take a photo of your tooth. Using the new software, your restoration will be designed according to your tooth's appropriate form and function.

Then, the mill will use diamond burs to develop your restoration out of a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

Today's Topic Has To Do With:

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is necessary when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and detect problems early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also cause the nerve to be harmed to the point it requires root canal treatment. When this takes place, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it needs to be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even deteriorate the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and might be really painful. Symptoms that the pulp has actually ended up being infected may include sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no signs are apparent and the person is unaware of any problem up until a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and decontaminate the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. As soon as the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is recommended for restoring a tooth that has had root canal treatment.
