3 Reasons To Choose Same Day Crowns

If you've ever actually had a crown placed over one of your teeth in the past, you understand that the procedure typically includes a minimum of 2 appointments to the dentist and the placement of a temporary crown prior to you getting your long-term one.

However, there is a brand-new treatment for installing crowns that can allow you to obtain a long-term crown the same day. As the name indicates, same day crown devices permits crowns to be created right there close to the dentist's chair.

Have a look at a couple of reasons that same day crowns may be right for you.

Better Looking Teeth

Same day crowns are made completely of ceramic, eliminating the need for metal. While metal crowns are completely functional and safe, they're typically considered less attractive than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an aesthetically preferable choice, particularly for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown machines can match the crown precisely to the shade of your natural teeth.

Less Wasted Time And Money

Every hour you spend at the dental practitioner's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or responsibility.

Needing to return to the dentist's office several times for one treatment might mean getting time off at work approved for more than one day, getting a babysitter for more than one day, or filling your automobile with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a brief time-span.

Any way you look at it, several dental visits cost you money, in addition to exactly what you're spending on the dental treatment. Getting everything done in one appointment conserves time, and time is money.

Saves More Natural Teeth

The machine used in the same day crown procedure takes a digital scan of your tooth and after that is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the specific specs provided by the digital scan.

This enables the dentist to keep as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest alternative for your jaw.

This also allows the dental practitioner to use the machine to create inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you require more coverage than a filling will offer but less than a complete crown.

Thanks to the more accurate digital measurements offered by the same day crown machine, teeth that may once have required a full crown might now be candidates for only a partial crown.

If you know that one of your cracked teeth will probably require a crown, be sure to make a visit with our dental practitioners today.

Today's Conversation Is About:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery might be needed to repair a badly damaged joint.
