Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to most dental restorations, veneers might at some point require replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last multiple years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method normally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
