Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers may at some point require replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last years, offering you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method typically involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
