Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to most dental restorations, veneers may at some point require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
